Introduction.

Assam, the land of the mighty Brahmaputra river, lush green tea gardens, and the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, offers a rich cultural tapestry shaped by the Ahom dynasty and vibrant indigenous tribal communities.

Culture & Heritage

The culture of Assam is a blend of Ahom, Indo-Aryan, and Tibeto-Burman influences. For over six hundred years, the Ahom Kings ruled the valley, leaving behind majestic brick temples, amphitheaters (Rang Ghar), and stone arches. The spiritual movement of Srimanta Sankardev introduced Satriya dance and 'Sattras' (monasteries) that preserve the classical Vaishnavite heritage of drama and music.
